Responsibilities
Vary by client assignment, and may include:
- Personal care - bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Household support - light housekeeping, laundry, and meal preparation.
- Mobility assistance - safe transfers and support moving about the home.
- Transportation to appointments, errands, and visits.
- Dementia and memory care for clients with memory loss or cognitive decline.
- Companionship - conversation, routine, and a consistent presence in someone's home.
Requirements
- A valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance. Many assignments include transporting clients to appointments and errands.
- Completion of pre-employment screening, including a criminal background check, child and adult protective services checks, and a driving record check.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Adherence to each client's written care plan, and prompt reporting of any change in a client's condition.
- Ongoing communication with the office regarding scheduled visits and any concerns arising from them.
- Discretion with confidential health, family, and household information.
- PSS or CNA certification before being assigned to a client. You are welcome to apply before you are certified.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Physical demands of the role
Caregiving is hands-on work. A typical assignment involves:
- Frequently assisting clients with transfers and mobility, which can mean supporting a portion of a person's weight.
- Standing and walking for extended periods during a shift.
- Regularly assisting with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Occasionally bending, reaching, and carrying while preparing meals or handling laundry and light housekeeping.

Preferred qualifications
- Two or more years of professional or in-home agency caregiving experience.
- Current CPR and first aid certification.
- Experience with dementia and memory care.
- Meal preparation and light housekeeping.
- Availability to provide coverage for colleagues on sick leave or vacation.
- Familiarity with the towns in our service area.
