Silver Linings Agency Home Care is owned by a local brother-and-sister team who started on the other side of the home care journey. We were arranging care for our own mother. The agencies we tried didn't work out. Caregivers we hired privately were wonderful, but every sick day and every vacation opened a gap, and filling gaps at the last minute was stressful and expensive. We wanted caregivers as good as the ones we found with a real team behind them, so that care never rested on one person's schedule. That's the agency we built. More about who we are.
I would highly recommend Silver Linings Agency. The caregivers are very compassionate and willing to help with any needs. I have been very happy with this agency.
A care plan is a safety document, not a task list. It sets out what help someone gets, when, and how it's done, and getting it right takes more than writing down what a family asks for. It takes knowing what to ask about in the first place.
Silver Linings Agency co-owner Melissa Bicknell (FNP-C) reviews and approves every care plan before care begins, and again whenever it changes. Plans are built in person, in your loved one's home.
Melissa is a Family Nurse Practitioner with 15+ years in healthcare, and before Silver Linings she worked as a provider and clinical director in long-term care. She has spent years watching how care plans hold up in practice and where they fail. She also worked her way up through the job itself, practicing as a Certified Nursing Assistant and then a Registered Nurse: she has held the same certification our caregivers hold and knows what can realistically be done in the time a scheduled visit allows.
That shows up in two ways that matter to your family. She knows what to watch for, including the early changes in mobility, appetite, or memory that a non-clinical intake wouldn't think to ask about. And she knows what's appropriate to take on.
A missed shift is never just a missed shift. It's a loved one not getting the care they need and expect: a morning routine that doesn't happen, a meal skipped, an evening spent alone when someone was supposed to be there. Filling that gap then falls to the family, usually at short notice.
As owners of Silver Linings Agency, this is an experience we have lived and understand. One person's schedule cannot be a single point of failure. The flu doesn't care that there's no backup, and neither does a family emergency or a scheduled vacation. Every one of those situations became ours to solve at the last minute, and solving it was stressful, sometimes frightening, and expensive.
For us, coverage isn't an operational detail; it's the reason we exist. Our goal is to provide, for your family, the same high level of consistent care we demand for our own.
Silver Linings Agency is a non-medical home care business, a different service from skilled nursing or rehab a doctor may order after a hospital stay. If you're not sure which one your loved one needs, see home care vs. home health care.
